How does an idea take flight and grow into something tangible? How does a single great notion evolve, take on a life of its own, and defy prevailing opinions? How does an individual challenge the status quo?

The story is a passionate one. It is, as Dick Youngblood so eloquently captured in his February 13, 2000 article, the story of the "Blood, Sweat, and Tears of an Entrepreneur".

This is the story of The Kydd Group and how one person--with a vision and a burning desire to succeed--kept her eyes on the prize. It is the story of an extraordinary journey that becomes more remarkable by the day. In the words of our late owner, founder, CEO, and current inspiration:

"An African-American, female-owned company was definitely not something I set out to create. When I took flight from my work as a marketing manager for Northwest Airlines, I was yearning to test my own entrepreneurial wings. What I wanted to achieve was something different than I'd seen in corporate America. It seems so simple, sounds so trite: I wanted to create a company that provides outstanding service and creates great things.

Nobody hired me because I was an African American OR a female. They hired me because I delivered -- on promises, on time, on the money. The results were clear and we were asked back again and again. Our name got around and as we continued to work for our original clients, we added more along the way.

As a natural progression, The Kydd Group began to evolve. Clients chose us because the quality of our work was exceptional and because our service was stellar, BUT they asked us for a broader range of support; competencies that were beyond our scope. But did we turn them down? No - we challenged ourselves to learn, grow, and succeed. Again, we "delivered the promise." Today, in addition to our original meeting and event planning services, we offer a full range of marketing, public relations, and management consulting services.

I believe our second decade will be even more amazing than our first. Our clients continue to bring us wonderful challenges. Our reputation grows because we are still a company based upon providing outstanding service and creating great things."

And now, as we enter our third decade, we continue to meet the challenge of providing outstanding service and creating great things.
